  • 300 gr tuna drained from the can – 2 cans of 200gr sould result in 300 gr of drained tuna
  • 500 ml tomatoes sauce passata works great here
  • 60 ml olive oil or other vegetable oil
  • 0.5 piece red pepper chopped
  • 1 piece medium onion chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced or chopped
  • 1 chilli chopped choose depends on your personal preference, or completely omit it if spicy food is not for you
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika
  • salt upon your taste be aware that tuna cans usually have some salt already
  • 50 gr parmesan for serving
  • fresh basil leaves for serving

Instructions

  • Boil the pasta according to producer instructions (this depends very much on the type of pasta you choose) in a separate pot. This is the first step to start with since the sauce takes me less than boiling pasta process.
    360 gr pasta
  • In a pan or pot add the oil on medium heat. Be aware that the oil I used is for tuna in in brine, if you use tuna in vegetable oil, than use less oil.
  • When the oil is ready add the chopped onion and the chopped peper and saute them for few minutes until the onion is soft.
0.5 piece red pepper, 1 piece medium onion, 60 ml olive oil
  • When the onion and pepper are done add all at once: the pepper, the salt, the sweet paprika, the minced/chopped garlic and the optional chilli.
2 garlic cloves, 1 tsp pepper, 1 tsp sweet paprika, salt upon your taste
  • Mix the for about 30 seconds (no more because the parpika will caramelize otherwise) and then add the canned tuna.
    300 gr tuna
  • Mix for 30 seconds more and add the tomato sauce and bring it to boil.
    500 ml tomatoes sauce
  • The pasta should be ready already, but if not you could lower the heat for the sauce until the pasta is cooked.
  • When the pasta is cooked drain it in a pasta drainer, put it for 30 seconds under cold water and then add the pasta in the tuna tomato sauce prepared. Mix everything about 1 minute and your tuna pasta is done!
